These terms cover what you can and can't do with Betta Dreams content. Read them once. They're short.

Content ownership

All editorial text on Betta Dreams is original work and © Betta Dreams. Short quotations with attribution are fine for academic, journalistic, or educational use. Reproducing an entire article requires written permission. Email hello@bettadreams.com and we'll usually say yes.

Image licences

Images on this site fall into three buckets. Public-domain or Creative Commons images from Wikimedia Commons, NOAA, or similar archives are credited under the image and governed by their original licence. Reader-submitted images are used with permission and credited accordingly. Original photography by the publication is © Betta Dreams, available for editorial reuse with attribution. Always follow the link in the caption to confirm the licence before reusing an image elsewhere.

No warranty, no fish-diagnosis advice

Articles describe what works in general. They aren't veterinary advice for a specific fish. If your fish is visibly sick, the right move is to contact an aquatic veterinarian, not to extract a dosing schedule from a paragraph on this site and hope.

Content is compiled with reasonable care from primary and secondary sources, but may still contain errors. We correct them as we find them. Corrections welcome.

External links

We link generously to primary sources: PubMed, IUCN, FishBase, ScienceDirect, the Merck Vet Manual, breeder sites. Those links go to third parties whose terms and privacy notices apply to your visit there, not here.

Acceptable use

Don't scrape the site at a rate likely to impact availability for other readers. Don't republish entire articles without permission. Don't run automated tools that train models on this content without a written arrangement.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site grows. Material changes get a bumped "last updated" date and, for breaking changes, a homepage banner for 30 days.

Governing law

Any dispute arising from these terms is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the publisher is based. If you're in a different jurisdiction with stricter consumer protections, those apply to you.
